Last week if I had written this, I could have said “off the road.” But today that is not true. Today I am in Oklahoma City for the week at one of my favorite clubs, The Loony Bin OKC. However, what I am writing about is my last big road trip. Seattle, yes the one with the “Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs” for you Frasier fans.
So, officially the Con-Comedians is a real thing. For those of you not familiar with the term Con outside of being cheated let me explain. Con is short for Convention, as in the most famous usage, Comic-Con. Well, there is a group of comics that do these Cons, thus we are the Con Comedians. This iteration of Con Comedians consists of myself, Sean Stanley, Unckle Gary, and Landry Miller.
The Con-Comedians were booked to do an Anime-Con called Aki-Con in Seattle WA. To save a few bucks on flights, we decided to drive… from Tulsa… to Seattle… in late October!!!! If you ever get a chance to ride with 3 comedians from Tulsa to Seattle, DON’T DO IT! Oh, it sounds like fun, comedians in a car being funny. And it is, to about Wichita, when you realize you’ve heard everything funny that will be said the rest of the 3750 miles. Sure, it got better around Denver, but that wore off… :-}
What Google lists as 29hrs in reality, giving yourself some stretch stops, takes more like 36hrs. What we drove in daylight was beautiful, seeing the mountains, the changing of the colors, the different landscapes. And, again, like the Distinguished Gentlemen’s tour I did a significant portion of the driving.
Aki-Con itself was awesome. It is an Anime focused Con with probably the largest percentage of cosplayers of any of this type of con I have attended. They are in their 8th year, and seem to have a handle on what their constituency are looking for. We
met some great people, and had two spectacular shows. One all ages show, where we had to temper our material in the event there were some children present, and there were. The other, an 18 and over show at 1am, which was FULL and rockin.
So for those of you keeping track (or that read the title of this post) between this trip and The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Tour, that is a month and a half, covering both coasts, 7500 miles with shows in 9 states. And I loved every minute of it.
As you can tell, I’m on the road… so tell me where you want me and I’ll see if I can work it out. 2016 already is looking like potential trips to Baltimore MD, Kansas City KS, Memphis TN, Seattle WA, and so much more…
Oh, Having a Christmas Party and want some laughs… message me Booking@CRParsons.com and I’ll see what I can do for you. May even be able to provide a funny Santa…
